The “About Us” section is really about you—a student of film, the potential filmmaker. The storyteller. Because what we’re really all about is you. As a student, you’re different. As a film school, Compass is different. Compass is the only conservatory-style, interdenominational college in the nation whose curriculum is specific to the entertainment industry. With a unique performance-based curriculum, we’re defined for the quality of filmmaking education we offer and by the successes of our alumni.
We believe in the art of story. Excellence in storytelling goes back to the ancient Greeks. But somewhere along the line of time, it is often misunderstood.
The glue of the production is story. The texture of the program, whether it’s experienced on the screen you carry in your pocket or on the big screen viewed with hundreds in a theater, is story.
It’s the voice. And that voice will never find an audience unless it’s taught in a way that resonates.
It’s taught at Compass. It’s learned at Compass. And it’s felt by audiences that are entertained by the films, TV shows and digital programming of Compass alumni.
We want to help you find your voice. We believe in real world, hands-on experience in digital arts and filmmaking—something often missing in some film schools. And we believe there is a spiritual component to storytelling that’s gifted by God to you, the artist.
At the end of the last semester, nothing says more about the distinct advantages of a Compass education than the remarkable successes of our graduates. Our graduates are given unprecedented opportunities to intern and to work with peers and mentors on projects that inspire them.
You’ve found your inspiration to become a filmmaker. Seek the experience. Learn the art. Develop the skill set, and discover your storytelling voice at Compass College of Cinematic Arts.
